Cole Slaw with an easy vinegar dressing and no-mayo, is great on pulled pork sandwiches, with grilled hamburgers, or BBQ chicken. This coleslaw recipe works as a summer side dish for picnics and cookouts.
You can buy pre-shredded cabbage to toss this slaw together fast, or thinly slice cabbage at home. I love using bright purple and green together, it looks so colorful with the orange carrots.
The tart clean taste of a vinegar-based coleslaw dressing balances nicely with any grilled main dish or savory BBQ recipe, oh and then there is that crisp cool crunch...

You Will Need
Mason Jar Coleslaw Dressing
In a small pint Mason jar with a fitted lid: add the apple cider vinegar, olive oil, honey, celery seeds, sea salt, and pepper. Shake until well combined for 1 minute.
Or add the ingredients to a small bowl and whisk until well combined.
As you all know, I often make my dressings in small jars and pop them right into the fridge to use again that week, with no bowls to wash!
Cabbage Coleslaw
- On a cutting board, thinly slice green and purple cabbage. Using a box grater, grate the carrots (or buy pre-grated clean cabbage and carrots in the bag) and place it in a large bowl.
- Pour the dressing on the purple and green cabbage and carrots, and toss using tongs. Best if served that day.
Optional Dressing Add-Ins
You can make this dressing creamy if you wish and add ½ cup of mayonnaise, sour cream, or Greek yogurt.
You can add some additional granulated sugar to make it sweeter as well.
