    Different Holiday Jello Shot Flavors

There are endless different ways to create your own jello shot recipes with unique flavors, during any holiday season. The hard part is to not add too much alcohol or they won't set! Classic jello shots can be updated from plain vodka to create your own flavors for different holidays with some easy substitutes and variations.

    1. Halloween Party: Mix up a flavor of jello like red, orange jello, or purple in a Halloween baking mold or in jello shot syringes. These will be the perfect recipe to spook your friends at your Halloween party.
    2. Christmas Party: Layer a festive red layer and a second color of green for Christmas jello shots, and top with whip cream. Or mix up Grinch jello shots with a light color neon green with small red heart candies.
    3. Tropical Island: Go to a warm tropical island and mix up blue Hawaiian jello shots with pineapple jello malibu rum, topped with red cherries and pineapple pieces.
    4. New Year's Eve: Champagne jello shots are a fun recipe with real bubbly champagne and unflavored gelatin, decorate with gold sugar rims and star sprinkles.
    5. Appletini Jello Shots: Make green apple jello shots and flavor with a box of Jolly Rancher Green Apple Gelatin, apple schnapps, or apple pucker.
    6. Lime Margarita Jello Shots: Mix up a margarita flavor with lime juice, tequila, and top with a lime wedge.
    7. Caramel Apple Pie: Use different colors, Jolly Ranchers green apple Knox gelatin, sour apple pucker, apple vodka, salted caramel vodka, and caramel topping.
    8. St Patrick's Day: Try to add Irish alcohol like a good whiskey or Baileys Irish cream for a perfect way to celebrate St. Paddys day. And you can make them in different green colors to make green layers.
    9. Fruit Flavors: Add your favorite flavor fruit juices in place of the cold water like pineapple juice, white grape juice, strawberry or mango juice.

What is the ratio of Jello, Gelatin, and Alcohol?

Gelatin is typically sold in either a 6-ounce box or a 3-ounce box. The ratio of water to gelatin mixes will be on the package of jello gelatin, read the side of the box to be sure.

But when you add alcohol, this will change the ratio, so how do you know if you are adding too much alcohol? When you add more than ½ cup of alcohol, you run the chance the shots won't set up, they will stay liquid.

The strongest you can make jello shots (that will set) is a 3 to 1 ratio of 80-proof alcohol like vodka to water, and it takes overnight to set up.

    • one cup hot water or juice
    • one 6 oz packet of jello gelatin
    • ½ cup of cold water
    • ½ cup of alcohol (4 oz of alcohol 80 proof)

How many jello shots per person at a party?

When throwing a party, you'll probably want to prepare 4-6 Jello Shots for each guest.

    a 6-ounce box makes 16-18 2-ounce shots
    a 3-ounce box makes 8-10 2-ounce shots

Can you leave jello shots at room temperature?

You can, but they slowly soften and become melted in the cups.
they can last for seven to 10 days in a covered plastic container in the refrigerator.

Can I make jello shots ahead?

Jello shots are their best for 3 – 5 days after making them.

You can make them in advance to save time, but it's best if you can make them just about 3 days in advance.

What kind of cups and glasses are best?

Try small 3 oz plastic containers with a lid. This way you can easily stack and for a party. I found these little plastic cups in the grocery store aisle right by the standard packages of jello powder.

I found some cute glitter shamrock stickers to put on top for a cheeky bit of fun. ☘️

PRO TIP: You can try to use plastic shot glasses, but the issue is the shot might not release. So lightly coat the inside of the glasses with a bit of nonstick coconut oil to get them to release.

    2. Boil water in a small saucepan on high heat.

    7. Use shamrock shaped cookie cutters in 2-3 sizes, and serve on a platter.

    Top Jello Jiggler Tips

It is easy to make the perfect jello jigglers recipe for your party.

    • For a cleaner cut, rinse the cookie cutter in hot water and dry it, then keep cutting.
    • If the cut shapes stick, use a butter knife to release the from the cookie cutter onto a platter.
    • You can make sugar free jello jigglers, just look for that on the package of Jell-O gelatin and make them low carb.
    • Place mold on a cookie sheet once filled to keep it stable to move in and out of the refrigerator before opening.

    Creative Jiggler Shapes

These jiggly snacks are not the ones we had as kids, since they have vodka!

    • Use a jello mold or jigglers mold to create fun shapes.
    • Make some spooky jello jigglers shaped like skulls or bones with 3D silicone molds for a fun treat on Halloween.
    • For a valentine's day party, use cookie cutters in different heart shapes and try white rum or Fireball whiskey in your finger jello recipe.
    • For July 4th, make patriotic jello jigglers with red, white, and blue layers or cut cubes in a small bowl topped with whip cream.
    • In summertime, make some decorative shapes like palm trees, sun glasses, pineapples, or flip flops. So much fun!
    • There are so many different shapes for Easter. Make classic individual egg halves or try some springtime favorite shapes like ducks, bunnies or carrots. These will be a great thing to have for the adults!

PRO TIP: You don't need fancy pans or cookie cutters to make this easy treat for adults. But you can make them in any shallow pan, spray it with nonstick spray and make some jiggly adult treats by slicing with a sharp knife into cubes.

Use a sharp knife to slice through, and cut into squares, small cubes, or cute shapes for a holiday or party theme.
