Witches Brew Midori Sour Cocktail Recipe
The bright green color of Midori cocktails are great for Halloween parties, now the fastest-growing holiday now in the United States. Colorful scary drinks are a must-have and the perfect Midori sour has a balance between the sweet and sour flavors.
- 1 ounce Midori
- 1 ounce Vodka
- 1 squeeze of fresh lime juice
- 1 squeeze of fresh lemon juice
- 2 ounces club soda water or lemon sparkling water
- 1 sprinkle edible drink glitter
- ice cubes
- garnish: plastic white bones or lime slices
- Put ice cubes in your glass, I used coupe-style cocktail glasses. Martini glasses or highball glasses look great too.
- You can mix this in a cocktail shaker or pour it into a glass and stir 1 ounce of Midori, 1 ounce vodka, some fresh-squeezed lemon and lime juice, and top with soda water or lemon sparkling water. You can also use a lemon lime soda like 7Up or Sprite.
Optional Garnishes: Stir in some edible drink glitter and add white plastic bones for garnish. Or you can add some fresh citrus lime wedges, lemon slices, or maraschino cherries.
Optional Mixers: You can buy a sour mix or a lemon-lime soda, freshly squeezed citrus, sparkling water, or fresh citrus juice like orange juice. You can also add in an extra shot of absolut vodka for a strong kick, it will be a good Midori sour!
Midori Melon Liqueur FAQ
Midori is a bright green, melon flavored Japanese liqueur. It was first released in 1964 as Hermes Melon Liqueur. When released in the US in 1978, the name was changed to “Midori,” the Japanese word for green. This unique liqueur is known for its super bright color, and it is easy to find in liquor stores and grocery stores.
The most famous cocktails with Midori are the Midori Sour recipe, Japanese Slipper, Midori martini, and Tokyo Tea, which is a Long Island Iced Tea with Midori.
A Midori splice is a sweet cocktail made with 1 oz of Midori Melon Liqueur, 1 oz Malibu rum, and 3 oz pineapple juice, topped with cream, and garnished with a maraschino cherry on top.
This is a very strong sweet liqueur that has a delicious melon flavor and is mixed into cocktails. The liqueur is flavored with muskmelon and Yubari.
Yubari Melon: A melon similar to a cantaloupe, with smooth skin, this variety is grown in Japan and prized for its sweetness and is known as being one of the world's most expensive fruits.
Musk Melon: Are a prized melon known for its sweet green flesh of the fruit that inspired Midori's color! The musk melons are used to make Midori and are grown in Japan's Aichi and Shizuoka provinces.

- 1 squeeze lime juice
- 1 squeeze lemon juice
- 2 ounces soda water or lemon sparkling water
