Why does this recipe work?
The combination of and all the fresh ingredients of green spinach, freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice, chia seeds, pineapple for fiber, and the spicy aroma of ginger and frozen banana make these green smoothies so different. It is smooth and has a natural sweetness, but a tangy clean taste.
There are endless ways to put a smoothie together! I have listed some fun ingredients ideas below to inspire you. And did you know you can prepare individual smoothies in the freezer ahead of time?
How To Cut Pineapple Chunks For Your Smoothie:
Learn how to cut pineapples into chunks the easy way, and to serve at parties or freeze the pineapple pieces at home.
This recipe will work fine with any blender, the high-speed blenders do get smoothies, well....smooth! I find if I add ice, the high-speed blades do a great job of crushing the ice into that smooth texture, but any blender will work just fine. Even stick blenders are a quick and inexpensive option to make smoothies.
Bright "green smoothies" have leafy greens like kale, spinach, or Swiss chard mixed with various fruit combinations, like bananas, pineapple, mango, pear, kiwi, avocado, or green apples.
-When you first wake up in the morning, to nourish your body.
-Right before or post-workout, to rehydrate and fuel.
-A healthy lunch choice with lower calories.
-When you are unwell, soothes the throat and is nutritious.
-Instead of ice cream, satisfy your craving for a healthy snack!
Here are some ideas to mix things up in creating smoothies:
-berries: blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries
-protein powder
-pea protein powder
-green veggie powder
-flax seeds
-hemp seeds
-cantaloupe or watermelon
-celery, kale, or swiss chard
-greek yogurt
-milk
-coconut water
-avocados

Put all the ingredients to make one smoothie in a zip-top bag and pop in the freezer. Example: fresh spinach, banana, strawberries, blueberries, and pineapple. When you want a smoothie, simply add into your blender with either milk, water or coconut water or nut milk, some ice, and blend away.
How To Make Green Smoothies:
- Juice the pink grapefruits into a bowl using an electric juicer or a hand juicer.
- Place pineapple, frozen banana (unfrozen works fine!), chia seeds, spinach leaves, and grated ginger into a high-speed blender.
- Pour grapefruit juice into the blender.
- Blend until smooth.
- Serve in a tall glass with straw and grapefruit wedge garnish.

Such a delicious detox smoothie! So easy to make and super flavorful! Loved it.
These smoothies are spa worthy! I love pink grapefruit and have never seen it used in a smoothie recipe before. For me these were like a healthier tropical dessert smoothie. I am a happy, happy girl! I could see tossing all of the ingredients, except the grapefruit bit, into the freezer in a bag and juice the grapefruits ahead so I can just wake up and hit blend on hurried mornings (aka, all mornings). Thanks!
