How To Make Homemade Lattes
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, add milk, pumpkin puree, and sugar. Heat up until hot but don't let it boil.
- Remove from heat, and whisk or use a frother to mix in the vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, and coffee.
- Pour milk mixture into mugs, top with whip cream and pretty sprinkles.
Optional PSL Additions
Cold Brew Coffee: You can also make this a cold brew drink and put it over lots of ice!
Sweeteners: To make it sweeter, add some natural flavors like maple syrup or honey. Add a few more grams of sugar, a drizzle of vanilla syrup, or a teaspoon vanilla extract.
Dairy Options: You can swap in almond milk, coconut milk, skim milk, or soy milk for whole milk if you are on a lower calorie diet.
Extra Shots: Add in some more hot espresso shots if you prefer a stronger coffee.
Gluten-Free: This PSL is gluten free, as there aren't wheat products in the ingredients, yay!
Pumpkin Puree: Read on to make your own at home, or buy it! By the way, pumpkin pie filling is a totally different product that you don't want for this recipe.
When you go to the store, canned pumpkin and pumpkin puree are the same thing! These terms can be confusing to consumers.
Some cans will say solid-pack, and that is a puree that works for this recipe.
I suggest you buy organic puree with no additives or anything extra. Puree is a different ingredient for recipes than pumpkin pie filling.
Cut open the pumpkin or squash into large pieces and either boil, roast, or steam it until cooked.
Remove the skin, and mash or blend it into a puree in a bowl.
Use homemade puree in recipes in place of canned.
More Pumpkin Recipes
Mix your own Pumpkin Pie Spice. You can certainly buy spice blends, but it is a great way to use pantry spices and tastes so much better homemade. It is popular in so many Fall and Thanksgiving recipes and has warm notes of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, and cloves.
Once you make your own Roasted Seeds full of buttery crunchy goodness, you will make these every Fall.
Pumpkin Bread baked with warm spices like cinnamon, fresh orange juice, and milk chocolate chips. Dense, moist, delicious, and so chocolaty...
