Serve this white wine sangria recipe for a light and refreshing summer sipper. It is great for July 4th celebrations, picnics, barbecue cookouts, or any summer party.
Made with sweet summer fruit and white wine, I infused strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, blueberries, and apples to get a "red, white, and blue" look. The sweet fruit gets mixed into the wine and looks so pretty and inviting on any hot summer day...
White Wine Sangria Recipe
The basic idea of Sangria is to slice fruit so it infuses into the white wine. Let it chill in the fridge overnight in a large pitcher for at least 5 hours so the fruit can infuse. If you like it sweeter, stir in some sugar, apple juice, simple syrup, ginger ale, or 7up.
- Slice strawberries and cut pineapple chunks, and place in pitcher.
- Add blueberries and raspberries.
- Make the stars for garnish, and squeeze lemon juice over the stars to keep them from turning brown.
- Pour a bottle of wine (25 ounces 750ml) into the pitcher.
- Mix, cover, and chill in the fridge overnight.
- Serve in glasses on ice with straws, flag pics, and white apple stars for garnish.
- Optional: Add a splash of champagne, 7up, or sparkling water when serving.
Top Sangria Tips
Ice Cubes: Serve in a glass over ice, or with freeze fun ice cubes frozen in different shapes like stars! I set up a star-shaped ice tray and froze flag picks inside the cubes. Try freezing fruit or berries into the ice cubes for a fun touch.
Add Fizz: Add some additional splashes of sparkling water, club soda, lemon-lime soda like 7-up or Sprite, champagne, or prosecco. Anything bubbly adds a festive sparkle!
Brandy: Many people add brandy into sangria, it tastes amazing, and you can also swap other alcoholic ingredients that go well like Grand Marnier, triple sec, orange liqueur like triple sec, and Cointreau, or peach schnapps.
Finishing Touches: Add colorful striped straws, and party toothpicks, and top with herbs like fresh mint, a splash of orange juice, or even punch.
PRO TIP: Apple Stars are cut from ¼ round slices of apple. I used Granny Smith apples but any apples will work. Cut the stars with small star cookie cutters, and placed the cut apple stars in a small bowl with freshly squeezed lemon juice to keep them a fresh white color. Just pour the stars and the lemon juice right into the pitcher, and garnish with a couple of stars on each glass of white sangria!
Sangria FAQ
Sangria should have at least two different fruits with one a citrus fruit. Classic Spanish red wine sangria is made with red wine, lemons, limes, and oranges.
Use a crisp dry white wine like chardonnay, a sauvignon blanc, a Spanish white wine, pinot grigio, or a riesling are great for white sangria.

I just love making up a batch of sangria and this one has so many variations to play with. What's your favorite? I have only used white wine and 7-Up so far but I'm curious about trying the red wine and adding champagne or Prosecco to the white in place of the 7-up. So many choices!
