Assemble The Halloween Dip Appetizer

  1. Reserve the coarse cracked black pepper for decoration in a small bowl.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the soft cream cheese, goat cheese, garlic powder, Lawry's seasoned salt, celery salt, and dried thyme in a mixing bowl by hand, a handheld mixer, or mini Cuisinart.
  3. On a small platter, shape the ½ the cracker spread into a tombstone shape, or mold the tombstone in your hands and place it on a small platter. Shape other ½ of the cracker spread into a mound in front of the tombstone.
  4. Using a spoon, sprinkle the "tombstone" with fresh cracked pepper.
  5. With the point of a small paring knife, write “RIP” on the tombstone.
  6. Go back over the letters until you can read them, and make sure the cracker dip isn't too soft to carve the letters.
  7. Sprinkle parsley on the mound for grass.
  8. Surround the grave with assorted crackers and serve.

How do you make cracked pepper?

Put whole black peppercorns in a clean coffee grinder that is just used to grind spices, and grind away. You can also use a mortar and pestle and crushed the peppercorns that way.

Haven't made this one for Halloween, but I have made it and loved the cream and goat cheeses mixed with thyme and spices. I rest the mixture on a bed of the chopped parsley so you scoop some up with your crackers. Great appetizer for company.
