and Happy Halloween!
Peppered Tombstone Cracker Spread is a spooky and easy Halloween appetizer to serve with assorted crackers. A bit hit at Halloween parties!
Several years ago I found this great recipe in a magazine and made it for a Halloween party. Since it was a huge hit, I have made it now for several years but slightly adapted the original recipe from Taste of Home.
Happy Halloween! 🎃

- 12 ounces softened cream cheese
- 6 ounces goat cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Lawry’s seasoned salt
- 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon fresh coarse cracked pepper reserve for decoration
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley finely chopped
- assorted crackers
In a stand mixer (or handheld mixer), combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl except the ground pepper. Reserve the pepper for decoration.
On a small platter, shape the 1/2 the cracker spread into a tombstone, or mold tombstone in hands and place on small platter.
Shape other 1/2 of the cracker spread into a mound in front of the tombstone.
Using a spoon, sprinkle all the cracker spread with fresh cracked pepper.
With the point of small paring knife, write “RIP” on the tombstone.
Sprinkle parsley on the mound for grass.
Surround the grave with assorted crackers and serve.
Soften cream cheese by leaving on counter for a couple of hours. Carve RIP into the cream cheese when it is not too soft using the tip of a paring knife. This recipe for Peppered Tombstone Spread was inspired and adapted from Taste of Home. Hey, if goat cheese isn't your thing, you can leave it out! The recipe works just fine without it!
