Lemon Dill Compound Butter pairs with grilled salmon and vegetables with incredible flavor. Store in the freezer for months!
Lemon and dill are a great flavor combination, this butter works fabulously slathered on any fish, grilled chicken, bread, or vegetables like grilled corn, asparagus, roasted potatoes, and lobster. Flavored butter is one of the best cooking tips my Mom ever taught me, and there are endless ways to make it at home.
Slice off a coin of this lemon butter, and watch it melt into a "sauce" at dinnertime, you will make it again and again...
How To Make Compound Butter
1 cube butter, softened
2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
pinch of salt
2 tablespoons fresh lemon zest
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- In a small bowl, place the butter, zest of one fresh lemon, one squeeze of lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.
- Mix until combined using a small spatula, place on a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper, and fold the paper or wrap over the lemon-dill butter.
- Push the lemon dill butter into a long roll shape using the plastic wrap to get it about an inch wide. Twist the ends closed.
- Place in the fridge to firm up and use that day.
- Slice into coins, and serve over grilled fish, potatoes, or asparagus.
- Keep in a ziplock bag in the freezer for up to 4 months.

The flavored soft compound butter is rolled into a long roll in parchment paper or plastic wrap or formed in molded shapes using small butter mold trays. Place in a ziptop freezer bag and keep in the freezer until ready to use.
Compound butter will keep in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks. The firm compound butter placed in the freezer will keep for several months frozen and well wrapped.
