A blue-rimmed frozen margarita CoronaRita cocktail with mini beer bottle in the glass.Pin

A CoronaRita is simply defined as, "an overturned bottle of Corona draining into a margarita." Works for me, how about you?

Make yours at home, these CoronaRita Margarita Beer Cocktails have a mini “Coronita” turned upside down into a slushy margarita. Perfect when you can’t decide between a margarita and an icy cold Corona...

How To Make CoronaRitas

  • 7 limes - juice 5 (slice 2 into lime wedges for garnish)
  • 1 orange - juice (or 3 clementine oranges)
  • 8 cups ice
  • 1 cup of good tequila
  • ¼ cup triple sec
  • 2 cups margarita mix
  • sea salt for the rim of the glass
  • 6 pack of Coronitas (small 7 oz Corona beers)
  • Optional: Large margarita glasses, CoronaRita beer clips, or colorful straws

Let's Make CoronaRitas!

Is anyone getting thirsty?

  1. Slice the 2 limes in wedges for garnish.
  2. Run a lime slice around the rim of glasses, and dip the glass rim into sea salt poured on a plate.
  3. Juice the 5 limes and 1 orange, and add the juice to the blender.
  4. Now, add 8 cups ice, good tequila, triple sec, and margarita mix.
  5. Blend until thick, add more ice if necessary.
  6. Pour the slushy margaritas from the blender into salt-rimmed glasses, open an ice-cold small 7 oz Corona beer (Coronitas) and carefully tip the mouth of the bottle into the glass.
  7. Garnish with a lime slice and a fun straw, sip, and enjoy!

PRO TIP: Test your mini Coronita bottles in your glasses, you can see the glasses I have are made to fit the neck of the beer bottle.

Why Are CoronaRitas So Popular?

  • For some reason, this is one of my most popular recipes, perhaps it's because it is so... well shall we say it's so over the top?
  • This Corona margarita cocktail is THE answer on a hot day, special celebration, or game day.
  • You can serve these in large glasses or any tall stable glass that holds the Coronitas.
  • The fresh citrus from limes and oranges adds amazing brightness!
  • Perfect to serve at a cookout or backyard party, poolside this summer, or with any Mexican dish.

CoronaRita FAQ

What glasses do you serve CoronaRitas in?

You can serve CoronaRitas in any tall drinking glass, but the traditional Mexican handmade glasses are so beautiful. The big margarita-style handmade glasses have a dip in the bottom to hold the little 7 oz Coronita beers just right, but you can always use any large tall heavier glass like a pint glass, and tip the beer in.

What goes with CoronaRitas?

How about serving these CoronaRitas with tacos, chicken enchiladas, ceviche, salsa, or guacamole and chips? Another great idea would be to have them with a crunchy easy taco salad.

CoronaRita and Coronita Beer Tips

  • If you want the 7 oz Coronita "little beers" icy cold, pop them in the freezer for 20 minutes right before serving.
  • Some margarita glasses have a dip in them that holds the little Coronitas. I found my glasses and pitcher at Home Goods, they were quite inexpensive.
  • Large Corona extra® beers would tip over most glasses, try to use the little 7 oz Coronitas for this cocktail, and use the Coronita clips made for this drink!
  • Corona sells clips online to hold beers in glasses just for this purpose, my glasses worked fine but test before your party. The beer can make the glass tippy so use some care as you sip!

The only place in town that served these went out of business and I was crushed! Thank you for posting this recipe. I love this drink and your recipe tastes just like the one the restaurant made -- sooooooooo good. That video was adorable too. I just want to meet up with y'all and have some CoronaRitas and chili dogs! (And guac and chips, because ... CoronaRitas.) Fiesta!

      Hi Cheryl,
The glasses hold 14 oz. I got them at HomeGoods, but know you find them online on Amazon. Have fun making them!

What if you choose not to use the small 7oz corona, and want to make a pitcher how much beer do you use?

Hi Shawnna, I would add 1/4 of a bottle of a regular beer into each serving glass first, then add your mixed margaritas. You can't really go wrong. Enjoy!
