  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 6 oz green Jello
  • 1 cup vodka
  • 1 cup cold water
  • garnish: whip cream and green sprinkles

Green Shamrock Jigglers (makes 24)

  • 2 6 oz green Jello boxes
  • 2 ½ cups hot water
  • 1 cup vodka
  • 2 packets unflavored gelatin

Instructions

Jello Shots

  • Boil water in a medium saucepan, then add two cups into a heatproof medium bowl.
  • Add 6 oz green jello packet into the hot water and whisk.
  • Add 1 cup vodka, and 1 cup cold water. Whisk well.
  • Set up 3 oz cups (shot cups) on a tray, and pour mixture into each cup just about a ¼" from the rim. Cover with the plastic lids, and chill overnight in the fridge. Don't freeze.
  • When set, garnish with whip cream and sprinkles right before serving.
  • If kept at room temperature, they slowly soften and become melted in the cups. Jello Shots can last for seven to 10 days in a covered container in the refrigerator.

Jigglers

  • Spray a 13 x 9 inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
  • In a large heatproof bowl with a spout, add 2 ½ cups hot water, two 6 oz boxes of lime jello and whisk.
  • Add 1 cup vodka and 2 gelatin packets, whisk well.
  • Use a strainer and pour the gelatin mixture into the pan to remove any small pieces of gelatin.
  • Cover with a piece of plastic wrap, and chill overight in the fridge. Don't freeze!
  • Cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Or slice into small cubes or squares with a sharp knife.
  • Keep covered and chilled in the fridge until ready to enjoy. Jigglers hold well at room temperature for a few hours.

Notes

What kind of jello shot cups and glasses are best?

Try a small 3 oz plastic container with a lid. This way you can easily stack and take them to a party. I found these little plastic cups in the grocery store aisle right by the standard packages of jello powder.
I found some cute glitter shamrock stickers to put on top for a cheeky bit of fun. ☘️
PRO TIP: You can try to use plastic shot glasses, but the issue is the shot might not release. So lightly coat the inside of the glasses with a bit of nonstick coconut oil to get them to release.

What is the ratio of Jello, Gelatin, and Alcohol?

Gelatin is typically sold in either a 6-ounce box or a 3-ounce box. The ratio of water to gelatin mixes will be on the package jello gelatin, read the side of the box to be sure.
But when you add alcohol, this will change the ratio, so how do you know if you are adding too much alcohol? When you add more than ½ cup alcohol, you run the chance the shots won't set up.
The strongest you can make jello shots (that will set) is a 3 to 1 ratio of 80-proof alcohol like vodka to water, and it takes overnight to set up.
  • one cup hot water or juice
  • one 6 oz packet of jello gelatin
  • ½ cup of cold water
  • ½ cup of alcohol (4 oz of alcohol 80 proof)

How many shots per person?

When throwing a party, you'll probably want to prepare 4-6 for each guest.
6-ounce box makes 16-18  2-ounce shots
3-ounce box makes 8-10  2-ounce shots
