Grapefruit Green Smoothies
Pink Grapefruit Green Detox Smoothies taste as good as they look! Sweet, clean, and full of green goodness and healing ingredients to detox and nourish you!
- 2 cups fresh pineapple or frozen pineapple chunks
- 1 frozen banana or fresh banana
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 4 large pink grapefruit juiced or ruby red grapefruit like I used
- 2 cups fresh spinach leaves
- ½ inch piece fresh grated ginger*
- add ice cubes as desired
Juice the pink grapefruits into a bowl using an electric juicer or a hand juicer.
Place pineapple, banana, chia seeds, spinach leaves, and grated ginger into a high-speed blender.
Pour grapefruit juice into the blender.
Blend until smooth.
Serve in tall glass with straw and grapefruit wedge garnish.
Enjoy, and be well!
Be sure to grate the ginger because the fibers in the ginger don't break down in a blender well.
I used ruby red grapefruit that have that jewel-like color! So pretty, but any variety of grapefruit will work just fine.
Frozen work really well, I keep then in the freezer ready to go for smoothies, this is a great solution when bananas get too ripe. Pop them in the freezer inside a zip-lock bag and they are ready when you want them for smoothies.
This recipe will work fine with any blender, the high-speed blenders do get smoothies, well....smooth! I find if I add ice, the high-speed blades do a great job of crushing the ice into that smooth texture, but any blender will work just fine. Even stick blenders are a quick and inexpensive option to make smoothies.
Put all the ingredients to make one smoothie in a zip-top bag and pop in the freezer. Example: fresh spinach, banana, strawberries, blueberries, and pineapple. When you want a smoothie, simply add into your blender with either milk, water or coconut water or nut milk, some ice, and blend away.
