Ingredients

  • 1 8 oz cream cheese room temperature
  • ½ cup powder sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4-5 tablespoons salted caramel sauce (Smuckers brand)
  • 3 bars Heath candy bars
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon
  • 4 medium Granny Smith Apples

Instructions

  • In a medium-size bowl, beat room temperature soft cream cheese with an electric hand mixer until very smooth about 3 minutes. Add the powder sugar, milk and vanilla, beat until well combined and a creamy perfect consistency.
  • In a small serving bowl, spread the dip mixture evenly, then drizzle 4 or so tablespoons of good caramel sauce on top of the cream cheese layer.
  • Unwrap the Heath bars and chop them on a cutting board into a small pieces. Then sprinkle the chopped Heath bars on top.
  • The best way to keep your apples from turning brown, is to squeeze a little lemon juice into a medium size bowl. Use an apple slicer or a knife or melon ball to scoop out the seeds, slice each apple into ½" apple slices. Toss the sliced apples in lemon juice to coat which keeps them white, and will stop the browning.
  • Place the dip bowl in the center of a round platter, and then arrange the cut apple slices in a spiral around the dip.
  • MAKE AHEAD TIP: If serving next day, for best results keep the dip in the fridge in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap. Pull out before the party, sprinkle the crushed candy bars over the top of the cream cheese mixture, and arrange the apple slices in a spiral pattern around the dipping bowl right before serving.

Notes

apples

You can use any color or kind of apple for this recipe, I love the way the green apple slices look, but this would be great with red Honeycrisp apples.

lemon

Squeezing the lemon juice in a medium bowl keeps your apples from turning brown as you slice and toss them in the lemon juice.
